3. Password Manager
Password Managers take the burden of remembering off your hands, to make room for more important things.
We've done a lot of research at Tupicoffs in relation to password managers and selecting the right one, it’s one of the many steps we take to ensure maximum protection of our clients' data.
A password manager allows you to have complex random single use passwords, so if the average person needs 50 to 100 websites to access that's 50 to 100 passwords that you need. All of those passwords need to be different and complex for complete online security, and a password manager is the most effective way of storing that much complex and unique information.
Master Passwords and Password Managers
One of the benefits of a password manager is that it is very secure, however it pays to remember that with a password manager your master password is all important. It is important to make sure that it's not a password you can forget or that you have it stored securely somewhere. If you lose your password manager master password there is no way to access those passwords again.
That's all part of the security of the password manager, but being aware of that, it is important that you either keep a record or have a password that you can't forget for your master password.
What a password manager does is safely store passwords and enters them for you when you log into a website or an application. You're able to store a username and a unique password for each of those. It can be difficult to think up a 15 character password so it's helpful that a password manager can also generate unique passwords for you. It will then input them for you so they can be very complex because you don't need to remember them.
Some password managers can be used across multiple devices, allowing the same password storage to work on your computer, your tablet, and your smartphone.
You simply need to remember the one email address and the one master password, we recommend LastPass or 1Password as a password manager.
We think that the cost of a password manager is a very cheap price to protect your personal and financial assets. We use LastPass and 1Password but we recommend you use any password manager over none. We're certainly very happy with our password managers and the way they protect our accounts and information.
